Summary: This book is about crime, which has been taken place twenty years ago in Marmet. A body of Sara Jane Whitman's father- Franklin Whitman, has been pulled from the Flagstaff Lake, where it was all that time. Earlier people thought, that he robbed a bank and disappeared. Sara Whitman want to know the truth- who killed her father?
When she appeared in Marmet, she met her old friend- Anthony DeMarco. She decided to stay at his home. After some time they have a romance and a killer has been searching by sheriff Ron Gallagher. For Sara Jane, this crime isn't ordinary. Someone didn't just steal the bank's money, someone stole her family and came close to destroying her life. She said press that she wouldn't come back until a murder will be found. The killer heard this news and decided to kill her. One night he shut at Sara and if it hadn't been for Tony, she'd be dead. After that, Tony DeMarco put a private investigator and hired bodyguards and extra security.
In the end of the book, the killer was found. It was Moira , who worked in a bank in which Frank Whitman worked too. She stolen money, but she didn't expect that her husband will die in a car accident, so she didn't spend it for anything. The police did their job, and Sara and Tony decided to get married. They came back to New Orleans, Moira was arrested and in Marmet everything turned to a normal life.
